I am delighted to be taking part in the Good Afternoons talks at the Burton Art gallery in Bideford over the summer 2021.
24 July – Edward Wild: furniture designer and maker
Edward will take a look at the long history and craft of cabinetmaking and discuss how that influences his own work. He’ll talk in detail about how he sets about choosing wood and the making of a number of his own pieces. Edward has been making English furniture from his workshop in Devon since 2011
These are hand made from beautiful woods including burr Elm, burr Walnut and burr Chestnut, alongside the rich tones of Indian Rosewood, Olive Ash, Sycamore and my favorite English Walnut, in my Devon workshop. I have also been lucky enough to work with some superb English Holly and make a unique occasional box with this.
Please contact Edward for further details, or to get a first look at some of the other unique pieces currently getting made in the studio.

I am delighted to be a part of the Makers Series, ‘Makers in Isolation’ which has been produced to document the work of makers during COVID-19 pandemic 2020.
In early 2020 I was due to start filming for the 8th Film in the ‘Makers series‘, documenting the work of makers throughout North Devon. As we went into Lockdown this did not happen, but developed into a new series, ‘Makers in Isolation‘ to document makers during the COVID-19 pandemic 2020
The Makers series involved answer 4 questions whilst also filming themselves working in lockdown. The footage is then sent to Jess Pearson, founder of The Maker Series, and Jess edits the films to produce mini-documentary time-capsules of this uniquely difficult time.
The series aims to bring hope as well as document how the pandemic has impacted makers and how they have adapted to be able to continue to make a living through their passion.
Many self-employed people have slipped through the net of support during COVID-19, this is why Jess believed it was also important to have the makers voice what their creative business brings to their life, in the hope that others may not be put off creative self-employment in the future.
The Maker Series aim is to promote and demystify creative self-employment, so making such a series felt incredibly important.
Branching out is an exciting exhibition at the Devon Guild of Craftsmen in the Riverside Gallery from the 5th October -17th November.
I am excited to be exhibiting a new selection of pieces including new versions of the popular Burnett Table and a sunburst mirrors.
This exhibition is celebrating the work of a range of guild members on the theme of wood. It is an inspiring and beautiful collection to celebrate autumn, trees, forests, wildlife, wood and making and will be a pleasure to be exhibiting with some fantastic guild members again including Kate Toms (needle-felting), Sam Pickard (printed textiles), Philippa De Burlet (porcelain), Hilary Burns (willow weaving), Paula Youens (printmaking), Carol Ballenger (photography), Judith Woodings (printmaking), Anna Bowen (wood carving), and Ambrose Vevers & Hilary Burns (furniture collaboration), Janine Partington (enamel & leather)

It was fantastic to be exhibiting and selling a selection of new pieces and designs at Handmade Oxford 2019. One of my favorite bits of 2019 so far has been this classically beautiful jewellery box in magnificently figured Burr Chestnut with a Sycamore and Bog Oak Lining
A new range of luxury occasional boxes and intimate ring boxes are now available from the studio for 2019.
The new handmade range of luxury occasional boxes and intimate ring boxes follow in the style of the Jewel range of Luxury Jewellery and Cuflink boxes. Using the finest timbers and finishes with bog oak detailing, these occasional boxes add an exciting new addition to the studio .
