The Burr Walnut Jewel: A luxury Handmade Jewellery Box

The Burr Walnut Jewel combines the dramatic figuring of Burr Walnut with the clean elegant lines found throughout Edward’s Furniture. 

The Burr Walnut wraps around the box on both the inside and outside and is framed with ancient 5300 year old Bog Oak string lines.   The box is lined with Rippled Sycamore which contrasts with the dark exterior of the box.  Inside is a  Sycamore, Walnut and Suede tray which floats gently back into place.  The lid also closes softly on a bed of air.  The box is finished with over 100 coats of Hand applied French polish and a final coat of beeswax.

The Bog Oak Cufflink Box:  A Luxury Handmade Cufflink Box

This new edition to Edwards’ Luxury Jewel range of jewellery and cufflink boxes has been made using 5300 year old English Bog Oak with its deep rich colour.  The dramatic grain and colour found in this ancient wood is shown off on the box lid with a detailed raised oval panel.  The box is lined with rippled Sycamore, with a Bog Oak, suede and Sycamore tray, divided into many separate compartments each lined in suede.

A busy workshop preparing new pieces for Celebration of Craftsmanship and Design 2018

I am busy working through the summer on a range of new pieces ready for Celebration of Craftsmanship and Design 2018, including a stunning new table and a selection of unique bespoke boxes.

Celebration of Craftsmanship and Design brings together over 70 of the best bespoke furniture designer makers from the UK from the 18th -27th August 2018.  CC&D is in Cheltenham at the Thirlestaine Long Gallery  within the campus of the famous public school, Cheltenham College.

The Rosewood Jewel. The latest Jewellery Box by Furniture Designer-Maker Edward Wild

 

This luxury handmade Jewellery box made from Indian Rosewood with Ebony detailing, has a dramatic sunburst wrapping around the box on both the inside and outside.  It is lined with shimmering rippled sycamore and has a rosewood and sycamore tray which is lined with suede. 

The lid closes softly on a bed of air and the tray floats gently back into place.  The box is finished with over 100 coats of hand applied French polish and a final coat of beeswax.

The Art Of Making A Group Exhibition at the White Moose Gallery

 

I am delighted to be exhibiting a range of works, including The Lounger Chair and Ammonite Coffee Table at the White Moose Gallery in Barnstaple from the 10th November to 6th January.

The Art of Making is a group exhibition bringing together five top makers in the local area, including ceramics by David Cleverly;  bespoke handmade furniture by Edward Wild; textiles by Sam Pickard;  jewellery by Dominique Toucheteau and verre-eglomise art by Danni Bradford.

On rare occasions I come across a small piece of truly exquisite wood.  The marbled English Walnut I have used on the lid of this jewellery box is one of those special pieces.

The dramatic marbled Walnut is shown off on the inside by the Sycamore liners and Walnut, suede and sycamore tray.

Make Room: An Exhibition of Furntiure With the Devon Guild of Craftsmen

 

I am excited to be exhibiting at the Devon Guild of Craftsmen with ‘Make Room’, an exhibition of award winning and internationally renowned furniture makers.

Make Room is running from the 20th October until the 19th November at the Devon Guild Of Craftsmen in the Riverside Mill, Bovey Tracey, Devon, TQ13 9AF

I would be delighted to see you at the meet the makers event on Saturday 21st October from 2-4 pm where I will be exhibiting some new pieces from 2017.

Exhibiting at Celebration of Craftsmanship and Design 2017

I am delighted to be exhibiting some new pieces at Celebration of Craftsmanship and Design 2017

These include a stunning new console table in Figured Maple and Burr Elm with Bog Oak detailing; a new addition to the Burnett Table range in Burr Walnut, and several new boxes in the Jewel range of jewellery boxes.

Celebration of Craftsmanship and Design runs from the 19th -28th August at the Thirlestaine Long Gallery which is within the campus of the famous public school, Cheltenham College.
