Being part of the Makers Series: A short Video for 2020

I am delighted to be a part of the Makers Series, ‘Makers in Isolation’ which has been produced to document the work of makers during COVID-19 pandemic 2020.

In early 2020 I was due to start filming for the 8th Film in the ‘Makers series‘, documenting the work of makers throughout North Devon.  As we went into Lockdown this did not happen, but developed into a new series, ‘Makers in Isolation‘ to document makers during the COVID-19 pandemic 2020

The Makers series involved answer 4 questions whilst also filming themselves working in lockdown. The footage is then sent to Jess Pearson, founder of The Maker Series, and Jess edits the films to produce mini-documentary time-capsules of this uniquely difficult time.

The series aims to bring hope as well as document how the pandemic has impacted makers and how they have adapted to be able to continue to make a living through their passion.

Many self-employed people have slipped through the net of support during COVID-19, this is why Jess believed it was also important to have the makers voice what their creative business brings to their life, in the hope that others may not be put off creative self-employment in the future.

The Maker Series aim is to promote and demystify creative self-employment, so making such a series felt incredibly important.
