The Bog Oak Jewel Cufflink Box
The limited edition Bog Oak Jewel combines this dark ancient wood with a dramatic sunburst.
It is lined with Sycamore and Bog Oak with a Bog Oak and suede tray. The tray will float gently back into place, and the lid closes softly on a bed of air.
The box is French polished with over 100 coats of hand applied polish, and finished with a final coat of beeswax. Available as a jewellery box or cufflink box as shown.
Bog Oak
Bog oak formed as the climate changed thousands of years ago. Oak trees died and fell into bogs, and did not rot. Over millennia natural tannins in the wood reacted with minerals and iron in the water turning the wood from a golden brown to a deep dark black. This wood is in the very first stages of a long process to fossilisation. The bog Oak I am currently using has been carbon dated to approximately 5500 years old.
